Location: south east Michigan | Did you ever pass up a guitar purchase and later regret it?
My local music store of choice had a wood topped, Elite style millenium. I've never seen one since. To this day, after 7 years, I still regret not bringing it home. |

Location: East Tennessee | Last spring I saw a used Martin OM-16 in a local music store. It had a repaired crack in the top and a crack in the side. They wanted $499 for it.
It played and sounded really great. I passed on it. About a month later I went back thinking if it was still there I might see if I could get it.
Gone. :( |

Location: ms | That OM16 was a deal! Due to some health issues i let a Josh White that Tupperware had slip away. I think about what it would be like to have that guitar almost daily. The bad thing is if i would have got in touch with tupp he most likly would have helt on to it till i was better. My pride got the best of me. |

Location: Central Florida | My "one that got away" story is a little different because I did actually purchase the guitar, but let it go after only a month because it needed a complete refret and at the time I thought it made more sense to unload it than sink more money into it (D'oh!).
Anyway, the guitar was a custom, non-production model, left-handed Elite cutaway with an artist depth (not mid-depth) bowl, ebony fingerboard and bridge and some kind of exotic wood headstock overlay. It had the "Custom Model" label inside and was an acoustically awesome sounding guitar. And, because of the artist bowl, it was extremely comfortable to play. I was a fool to let a couple hundred dollars (the cost of the refret job) stand in the way of me keeping that guitar. |

Location: Michigan | Slipkid was that the one at Huber Breese ? I almost bought a Milleniuem from him back around 2000/2001 but I didn't know if it had a wood top on it or not.That was how I got started on Ovations.I was cheap & couldn't get Paul down to what I wanted to pay so I ended up leaving with a blue CS-257.I thought hell I probably won't like these plastic guitars anyway so why spend $1900.00 on something I will end up putting in the basement collecting dust.I still own the CS-257 and have added a Adamas 1598-MERB and a Mill-CB, and none are collecting dustin my basement.
I remember going back in the store and not seeing the Mill hanging on the wall any more I was Bummed.
On a bright note I found a brand new one last year from a music store that went out of business and sold all of his stuff on E-Bay.
I have always liked the necks on those guitars.GWB |

On a bright note I found a brand new one last year Not a wood-top... right?? Did you buy it?? |

Location: Michigan | Yes I bought this one,like you said it got away once and when I found out that they only made 75 of them I thought that I would pull the trigger on this one.As far as a wood top I could not tell you it looks and feels like plastic on the outside but it feels like wood from the inside.Im not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes down to it.GWB |

Location: Alberta, Canada | 15 years ago, my uncle, who was living in BC at the time, bought a '67 Martin D-35, from a university music student (fool) who was going to travel the world and needed the cash. He gave me a call when he got it, to tell me he thought he had found the perfect Martin for me.
A year later he brought it along when he came to visit. I played it and fell hard for the strong bass weighted voice and killer tone.
He offered it to me, but, with young kids and times being tough, there was no way I could justify it. Looking back I should have ran as fast as I could to the bank...ahhh, hind sight.
Anyway, he ended up leaving the guitar with me to play. I ended up having it for 14 years. This past August, he asked for it back. Can you say heart break?
I had tried over the last 8 years or so to buy it buy it, but he has had a change of heart and has decided to keep it.
I could easily spend the rest of my life with just that one guitar and be content, it is that nice to my ear and to play. Oh well, I had my chance and blew it...lesson learned, I hope.
The bright side of all this, is that it prompted me to send my 1112-4 to the factory for a makeover, and that turned out better than I had hoped for. From what I am hearing out of it now, this guitar has the potential to be as good or better than that D-35; time will tell.

And was that Simon model a Martin?? Both Martins. The CEO-5 lead me to a D18VS, then to the HD28-VS. Very similar to the CEO-5. Probably the best sounding guitar I own. I've got a regular OM-42 on the way, which is basically the Paul Simon without the signature. In the end I got similar guitars to the ones that got away and only paid about double what I could have.

I played an OM-42 a couple of months ago the local GC. I can't remember the price but it was a really great sounding guitar. A little out of my price range,(for now). |

Location: South of most, North of few | I try not to let them get away, but I have to live within a set guitar budget. The only one I regret not bidding more on is the black cutaway Adamas that Dave just won on Ebay. That would have been a nice match for my UTE. |

I was loaned this very this guitar and amp for about 5 years in the 1960's while he was an employed OTR trucker. I returned the guitar and amp when I moved out of my parents' house in 1969, then had a chance to buy both about three years ago, passed on it, then decided to go for it, but was a week too late. |
