He asked me if I played guitar, to which I repled with a "yes." The man then asked me if I would be interested in purchasing a really nice guitar. From the back of his van, he showed me a deep bowl legend (model 1617 I think) in near mint condition. He claimed that he needed money really badly and was selling it to me for $300 -- right there on the street! I suspected that it might be stolen, so I walked away. He almost convinced me to make the acquisition when he offered the guitar for $250 for one last time. Being a bottom feeder, I would've purchased the guitar right there if I had the cash at that time. But my conscience got in the best of me, and I didn't want to feel responsible for purchasing stolen goods and/or supporting the man's bad habits (whatever they might be). In a way, a part of me felt that I should've gone to an ATM and made the acquisition, and yet a part of me also felt that I did the right thing by letting it go ...

I wrote tons of songs on that guitar. I also had a old Gibson Roy Smeck Stage Deluxe in fair shape. I got it for a great price and if i ever find one i can afford i`ll buy it. Its been around the world with the guy thats got it now i even saw it on tv once and in concert a few times.
