I've been looking at slide instruction books. Does anyone have a recommendation? Of course I'd like a book with a CD or DVD included.

I've been considering ACOUSTIC GUITAR SLIDE BASICS by David Hamburger.

Thanks.

I HAD a few cards rattling around that were good for a week's worth of unlimited free lessons . . .

If you're interested, I could mail you one (providing I didn't toss 'em).

I have one already. I just needed you to remind me. Also, I was checking the cost, which is extremely reasonable. Even signing up for one quarter to start is $60 with a bonus 30 days... $15 a month for professional lessons.

The book that got me started with slide was Arlen Roth's "Traditional, Country and Electric Slide Guitar" It was written 30-odd years ago, but I don't think anyone was written a better beginners slide guitar book since.

The Hamburger book is good too. I've got that one. Also has a great picture of the Caddy guitar in it.
Now you've got two good options but you should really sit with somebody to get the technique right from the start. So much of slide is feel.
And next there is the whole subject of what slide to use. I'd go for heavy glass for acoustic.
Good luck with it.
