Location: Geneseo Illinois (The Sticks) | Going against my better judgement....looks like I am actually going to buy a guitar without playing it first.
So can someone here please tell me how the neck profile of the 2080, u681, 1581 compare to an early 80's Legend, model 1617.
I humbly bow before the great Gods of Adamas and Ovation wisedom awaiting your reply. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | I have an ADII 1581 and an '81 Legend Limited 1651. The necks feel very similar in size (both width and depth), although I slightly prefer the feel of the Legend Ltd because the back is glossy and it has 26 years of use. The AD-II might also be a tad bit thicker (or more chunky) but it could be the feel of the flat finish. There is not enough difference for me to notice going back and forth between the two. Hope this helps. |

I just lost a 1981 model 1617 to theft, but the neck was the sweetest neck I've ever played ... even sweeter than the 1991 model 1767 that I just bought to replace it. I say go for it.
Incidentally, I bought my 1617 via mail order in 1981 without even laying eyes on it or trying one out in a local music store. While I'd never do it again, I've never regretted the purchase. |

For 24 years my 1617 has been my work horse acoustic. It is tired...I have noticed some behind bridge lift, needs new tuners(second time), has been refretted from 1-14 once. The electronics cashed out a year ago. But it plays so damn good! |

Location: CT | I didn't play any of my Ovations before purchase, and I'm happy with them all. I once owned a Celibacy (which I did play first) that had an awful neck, but was dirty cheap, so got it anyway. It was a SS bowl, so got the '83 collector to replace it, now I'm a happy camper. |
