DZ was gracious to drive from Orlando to Tampa (granted, on a sunny day, in Florida, in his convertible, but still...) to inspect, purchase and ship it to me. I especially appreciate the "ship it to me" part. Another example of the high quality of members we have in this twisted little cult we call the OFC. Steve, I can't thank you enough for the trouble you've gone to on my behalf, except to say if you ever need my help, like, to get bailed out of jail, or something, you can count on me. Oh, and Steve, if you're reading this, I've never had to work this hard to pay money to someone I owe. Please let me know how much!!! :D :D :D The guitar is cosmetically perfect except for 2 very small impact marks on the top near the upper and lower edge. Nice low action, great neck, lovely deep-bowl/20-year-old spruce top tone. I wanted one quality wood-top to have alongside my 1581, and this is it. The bling on this is almost over the top, but it would be every bit as desirable without it. Thanks also to StephenT, whose advice to me when I wished the 1537 was a cutaway was to "keep my eyes open for an '87 collectors and snatch it up without hesitation." Good advice, I'm glad I took it.

At least I think so. I couldn't say one is better or worse than the other. They are both great. I really could not tell the difference between the 87 and the Book Elite, except with a little of the bling. My daughter liked the 87 better, probably since I promised it to her "someday".

Then I mention that my 87C is also an ok guitar and everybody goes out and buys one. Ok, if I have so much power, then everybody send me your 17 year old daughters....... John, congrats! These are wonderful instruments. I bounce back and forth between mine and my GC reissue. Both wonderful.....

I have been steadily reducing my herd to the delight of some lucky OFCers' who have reaped the benefits.....but the last 2-4 I want to pass on to others is really really driving me nuts as to which ones to let go. I got Dano from Canada flying in to Denver to play a bunch of the remaining ones and make a few selections to take back.....then hopefully, I will be done and won't fall off the wagon and start buying everything in sight again.
