Location: Morgan HIll, CA | Hello,
New Here. Have Celebrity CC057. I have been trying to get the string height, removed both shims that were under the saddle but cannot get it lower than 7/64 on the Low E and 5/64 on the high E. These are the maximum heights listed in the Ovation Setup guide.
Truss rod seems to be adjusted correctly as I have .009 at the 5th fret.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.... |

Good news is, for what you'd pay for a neck reset on a Celebrity, (epoxy wonderland) you could probably pick up a decent second hand US Balladeer.
My advice, crank up the action and learn slide guitar on it, and acquire, by fair means or foul, a nicely set up US Balladeer for normal play. |

You could look at the bright side... Your guitar is still within specs. (barely)
You did not say what gauge strings you had on there.
You could lower the action by going to the next lighter strings...
Unless you are already at extra-extra lights. |

He says the neck relief looks ok. If he put lighter strings on, He'd have to adjust the relief to account for the lighter strings and he'd be back where he started. |

Location: Brisbane Australia | You could Dremel/scrape a little of the top material out of the saddle slot providing there will be enough string clearance at the bridge.
1/32 deeper will give you 1/64th at the 12th.
Or you could shave a bit off the top of the saddle
Some pics would be good

Location: Morgan HIll, CA | Thanks for all the replies. I will try to get some pictures tonight.
I have 12s on it now, I was going to try 10s as I still think the string tension is high.
I will try to find a straight edge in the garage and check the neck set. |

Welcome to the OFC. This group will help you fix your guitar - even if you have to buy three new ones (?).
You can now take this thread over to the Genreal Board.
Have fun and learn!
