Ten years ago Carly Simon did a tv special from Grand Central Station (pretty good too). She was playing a ssb blue Adamas II.

Today there's a pic of her in the paper playing a very ornate Taylor dreadnaught...... damn

Can a reconciliation with JT be far behind?

He plays this small bodied Olson most of the time. I believe that each of them are custom made to order. It's a great sounding guitar, but it looks a little silly on him since he's such a big guy.

Am I the only person that doesn't give a frying fruck what kind of guitar anyone else is playing? Call me self centered, but the only guitar/player connection I give a damn about is me!

My only concern would be if lack of Artist Relations drove my guitar maker out of business. Since Ovation has no Artist Relations and they are still in business, I'm not too concerned.

Oh-oh, Niel Diamond is playing a Greedlove! Crap, Nancy Wilson has a signature Martian! Andy Gibb (is he the dead one?) is playing a Seagult! Who freaking cares.

"there's a place in the world for the angry young man ..." Billy Joel

Actually I'll take the "Young" part as a compliment. I turn 49 next week.

There was a time when an artist endorsement meant something. It was more a true relationship. Artists played the instruments and talked up the instruments. In many cases, they'd be playing the brand they played with an endorsement or without. It was part of their "sound," it was what they were known for. Today, most artists play the instrument (at least in public) they don't have to pay for.

Hey, i'd like to play those too! Actually, i did play an Echotone like that for a month recently that Jeff W. paid for, and it was a bit stressful. Life can jump out and put a ding in my guitars and i'm cool with it, but somebody else's? No way.

But seriously, it is too bad that endorsements have so little meaning anymore. It is so tainted, almost like politics (which i'm NOT talking about here, except metaphorically, .... Brad :) )

I once was the bass player in an opening band for a national act, and we used the national act's amps. Their bass player, a Carvin endorser at the time, didn't have a stick of Carvin gear on stage.

When I mentioned this in a Usenet group, he was much defended, citing different definitions of "endorsement". I simply see it as dishonest.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone here ever ran out and bought a guitar, or anything else for that matter, because of a celebrity endorsement? I've never taken them that seriously myself.

if you think that the epiphone nancy wilson is now using is one that comes from korea or china you are sadly mistaken. it is obviously a usa LP with an epi overlay on the headstock, the same with the jack cassady bass.
how many players endorse and use certain amps on stage only to find an old fender or marshall in back or off to the side that is really being used.
many bands have tons of speaker cabs that are not even loaded with speaker they are just there to impress.
I have seen ME use her 12 string and Al D use his guitar but also saw them with other guitars on the stage too.
Let me make a confession all of MY guitars are NOT ovations/adamas.

Afraid so Tup. We lost Maurice (the beardy twin) a couple of years ago too.

On the good news, though, Robin (the really this one of the three who had really long hair in the Night Fever video) is moving back home to the Isle of Man shortly, if not already here.

Wonder if he sings rockabilly at all... Hmm

What bugged me about the picture with Carly Simon is that I thought she looked pretty good...but she's 61 which is practically my mom's age.

Eeeewwwww.

I thought her Taylor looked good, though.

There does seem to be a trend here - you mentioned MILFs on one of the other threads as well. You naughty boy you.
