Hi. I'm Jack and I am seriously considering purchasing an Ovation to add to the Ibanez and Jasmine I already have.

Here is a post I've posted in other forums to give you an idea what I'm after:

"Hi all. I currently have an Ibanez AEG10E acoustic-electric. It is a thin body which is the most comfortable for me. It has a Fishman pickup, onboard tuner, 3 channel EQ, and an xlr connection. This guitar does all that I need it to do and sounds great. I want to get a second guitar to rotate with in my business and to have a backup as well. On my budget, I've narrowed it down to these 3:

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Ibanez-AEL20E-Acoustic-Electric-Guitar-...

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Ovation-GC057-Celebrity-Super-Shallow-B...

http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Yamaha-APX500-Thinline-A...

I know what the Ibanez can give me but I've also heard a lot of positive reviews on Ovations and Yamahas. I've never owned a guitar without a Fishman pickup and I know that Fishman is a good product. I don't how the Yamaha and Ovation pickups and sound would compare. My instinct is to go with the Ibanez since I already know what I would be getting, but if I can get the same or, more importantly, better quality and bang for the buck in the Yamaha or Ovation, I would be naive not to go for it. Now I know a lot has to do with preference like when you are shopping for a car, but I would like to hear from those that may own have owned an Ibanez and Ovation and/or a Yamaha. Opinions? Advice?
Thanks,
Jack"

The reason I picked Yamaha and Ovation is because I know I can't go wrong with either. I'm getting some positives from both Yamaha and Ovation. I wanted to get opinions from Ovation owners and this looked like a good place to do that. I am working with a budget and have my eye on two Celebrities. My first question is are these 2 Celebrities shallow body? Which one is the better bang for my buck?

GC057 or CC24?

I know I am in a biased arena and that is fine, but if anyone in here has owned either a Yamaha or Ibanez at one time or another, I'd like to hear your reviews and how your Ovation compares. Any other help or advice you can give me would be appreciated. I know my screen name looks like I would try and talk faith, which I'm passionate about, but I also always submit to authority and the authority here says no, and I will respect that 100%. If you feel I would get more response if I post this in another room in here, I'd like to get permission to do so. Thanks.
Jack

Jack,
Welcome to the OFC!
Lotsa questions! I'll field a couple:
The CC24 is a mid-depth bowl and is current production. If you want a current production shallow, find a CC28. The GC 57 is shallow.
The GC57 is the same as a CC57, just made for a prominent Guitar selling Center. ;-) It should have an OP20 preamp, which is nicer than the Op4BT that's in the CC24/28. The 57 has been discontinued, but if it's new it gets the same warranty.

I bought a CC48 for my daughter a couple of months ago - that's the multi-soundhole equivalent of the center soundhole CC28. It is, as expected, somewhat "thin" when unplugged but really nice when plugged in. Very happy with it, and it was only $300.

Mitzdawg,
thanks for the reply. first of all, what do i need to do to get approved to post in other rooms to get some opinions like yours?
bottom line: for a budget of 300 dollars, (don't care how they sound unplugged), which model would you recommend, (in red or blue color, if they even make blue), for the best bang for the buck?

thanks

jack

you might want to tweek the name a wee bit,
Like
HiJackajesusfreakandholdhimforransom, but that does get a bit long, doen't it?
How bout HiJackHim. That way the Him is capitalized showing respect and you don't say freak which is disrespectful. Maybe you could just say Hey freak, is that Jeasus and Jack in the back, or is Jeasus jackin there?

Maybe the whole thing needs to change to Ralph,

Hi, I'm Ralph and I don't allow no Jesus jackin around here.
I guess in certain sisuations it could work, like at the Piggly wiggly or Shoneys. I know it would go over big at Bubba's BBQ up in Woodbine Ga.

I'm gonna chime-in here and SUGGEST that, "jackajesusfreak" is not .... a wise choice for a public ScreeName.

Thank you Jack
I woke up this morning and had a great idea for a new song.
Called "Hijacking Jesus". About how things that start as good and helpful get twisted.
One line might be "they've taken him off the cross and put him on a billboard, It's just not quite the same anymore" Other verses can get into commentary negatively reflecting the social and political state of affairs today.
And in the last verse to bring things back around so you don't end the song down, something like "my momma said wear him in your heart, not on your sleeve, the only thing that counts is you believe" or something like that.

Anyway, thanks for the good idea.
