My new 2007 Collectors just came home today. The bear-claw spruce is gorgeous. It's so...

Sorry, I just gotta go play.

More later...

Notre Dame is the biggest freaking scam in all of college football. They get all this hype, but they are nothing more than a middle of the pack team. They beat up on Navy and Bowling Green every year and get trounced by anyone tough on their schedule. If they played a Big-10, SEC or Pac-10 schedule they'd be no more than a .500 team.

I have no vested interested in Ohio State or Florida (other than the fact that the game brings $200 Million dollars into my local economy) but I've got a gut feeling that Ohio State will be fat, rusty and slow just like Michigan was and Florida will surprise the hell out of them. 27-10 Florida at halftime. It'll depend if Ohio State can rebound or not, probably not. Final score 38-28 Florida.

We wanna see close up detailed pictures of the BCS. Did you order this or did you find it in a store? I've seen some incredibly nice BCS on some Takamine's lately. I'm curious how they compare.

The BCS isn't working, even with the supposed title game and opening it up to a mid-major. If Ohio State loses, Boise State will be the only undefeated team with no chance of a number one vote.
There will probably be a bunch of people in Phoenix who wish they went to the Fiesta Bowl instead of the national championship game. The BCS conferences are overrated.
Sorry.

Tupp,

As a OSU Alumn, I hate to say it, but you are probably right. OSU has a long history of chocking BIG TIME when all the money is on the table.

An exception was a few years back when they beat Miami. I'm not so sure that some of the calls made were correct in that one though. Would it have made that difference? Can't say.

I'm not a big booster and don't follow many sports closely. It is fun to see who is left a the end of the season, pick one and root for them. This year it happens to be OSU and I have only a tad more than casual interest.

Talk about high-jacking. Al Quaeda could take y'all's correspondence course.

Rick, my home page provider is undergoing (seemingly endless) maintenance. If I send you pics could you post 'em?

Either way, I don't mind doing it.

Wilblee, I notice you don't have a folder in the picture gallery. You can upload them to the gallery pretty easily with the limitation that they be no larger than 100Kb each.

Nice. I bet it sounds great.

I keep looking at the figured wood in the epaulet and thinking there's a treasure map in there somewhere.....

Though I've heard Cliff's reference to "stretch marks" and have to cringe from his sharp-shooter imagery, I am a fan of the figured wood tops. This one looks really crisp and promises to age wonderfully.

My compliments to the designer of your hearth as well!

A single Padauk Epi would be my choice on a custom but if there weren't several opinions what fun would it be?

I hate to sound like the typical new-owner gusher, but it sounds fantastic. I'm a huge fan of exotic woods, but it's hard to beat the sound of a spruce top on an acoustic. Plugged in is great as well. I plugged it into the Bose system to give it a quick whirl and stopped playing when my arm seized up about 3 hours later. Just lovely, all around - guess I'll keep it.

Dave,

Muchas gracias, amigo for posting the pics. I wish my camera were better, cuz it really is stunning in the flesh, er uh wood, and plastic and hmmm - stuff.

I just don`t see why with a guitar like this Ovation can`t give Mcperson a run for their money.

As far as I'm concerned they do. For the price of a McPherson, I can get a 2005, 2006, and a 2007 Collectors and take my wife to a very nice restaurant. Given that choice I would not hesitate. And I would really like to have a McPherson some day. It's just really hard to justify when Ovation makes what they do for he price they make it.

One other thing. I've bought several O's in the last couple of years (all my cuurent ones, plus a couple of gifts) and 2 or 3 more through the years - and this one has the best action factory setting that I have ever come across. Usually I have to remove a shim and fiddle with the truss before it all comes together. This time, nothing. I love it the way it is. That's a first (with just about any manufacturer).

I'm glad to hear that. Most of the newer USA models I've played in stores have had too high an action for my tastes. Wonder how many people think the same and don't buy a particular guitar because they don't know they can just remove a shim or two. It is nice to have an extra laying around though.

I think your top is pretty amazing. Not sure I've ever seen a bear claw exactly like that. Most I've seen have had smaller but more fluctuations in the wood grain. I'm a little surprised that it doesn't appear to be bookmatched. Overall, though, the guitar is quite stunning and I like the dark colored binding. What is that made of?
