I'm play 6-string guitars mainly, and I do know that the standard tuning for them are E-A-D-G-B-E. What's the standard tuning for a 12-string?

Same, but the small string is an octave higher on EADG and but it's in the same octave on BE.

Some people tune down to D or even C- less tension for easier playing.

You can also leave the lowest three octave strings off so that only the higher strings are doubled. Try it sometime when you're taking the strings off to change them.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'd been toying with the idea of acquiring a 12-string, instead of another 6-string as replacement for my one and only balladeer. In the meantime, I'll sleep over it ...

Thank you again Mark and Steve.

Of Course! I totally understand that! I just thought you Might want the answers in a timely manner. But since it's the weekend...
Shoot, I'm just switching-off between the guitar, the computer, and John Wayne on AMC.

Old Man Arthur, you do know that you can play the guitar AND watch an old movie at the same time, right? I do it all the time, and it drives the wife nuts!

Yeah, but you can't hear the dialog. But if it's a classic movie, you know the story anyway.
But it is hard to use the computer, Guitar gets in the way of the Keyboard.
