January 13, 2007, backstage at Denver's Center for the Performing Arts during concert intermission, OFC members ProfessorBB (L) and StephenT (R) were invited to chat with Glen Campbell, who also signed an Ovation 1866 belonging to ProfessorBB.

When I wear black, I just can't seem to keep the women off of me (shut up witko, jeff, cliff and any of you other slanderous pigs!)

Plus I wanted to add a little color to the event.

Glen was a great guy and letting Brad and I sit in and jam with him for a while was awesome!

I trust that you guys were able to show him a few guitar licks.

How'd they let you guys back there? I thought the NSA was working better than that now that the Democrats control the Congress......

Hey, I'm not certain, if I was ever in a position to pick up a guitar with Glen, that I'd have the cajones to actually do it.

What tunes did you guys play?

Paul, I figured you of all people would recognize a load of crap when you heard it. Guess I should have put one of these ;) in with the statement

No, we did not actually get to jam with Glen. I was actually AMAZED that he even played the show because he had a BROKEN right hand from where a golf cart ran over it in Las Vegas.

As long as its not an interest payment on a bad loan. Or is that kind of thing limited to Joisey?

All kidding aside, it must have been really cool to meet him and get pictures.

and I have to give thanks to the Professor for suggesting, arranging, and setting up all the details to make it happen (including front row seats for the show :D ).

Glen was very gracious, a delight to meet, and even with his broken hand he played incredbily smooth and fast.

Maybe because Denver was just awarded the Democratic National Convention in 2008. Seriously, I do a lot of performing here. The symphony stage managers and back stage directors are colleagues of mine. They really were expecting us. GC is a really nice gentleman. So is his business/tour manager who made all the arrangements on GC's end.

By the way, he played his blue strat, an EA-68 Viper, and a Hamer 12. We were seated in the front row (which I was able to obtain at half price with my performer's discount) and during Rhinestone Cowboy, he walked over and pointed the microphone down in our faces on the chorus. Of course, we blared out our finest.

GC would not shake with his right hand. He reached out and used his left as he told us the story of the golf cart in Las Vegas. During the show, you could see his pain as he would shake it loose in the middle of some of his better licks (like Classical Gas and the William Tell Overture). He also told us that the cast had been removed only hours before the show.
