Friday night you're looking to go to the Acoustic Cafe? WTF, Moody?

OK, here's my last pitch and then I'll shut up.

The drummer's wife, Michele Morgenstein, died of breast cancer about a year ago. The best song in the set, Hereafter, is dedicated to her. The last time I saw a Morse/Dregs show the solo at the end of that song was unbelievably mind-blowing. Michele was still alive then and I can only imagine how much extra Steve now puts into it due to the love and admiration that he had for her. If nothing else, this one song is worth the price of admission and the travel efforts to get to the show.

This is part of a review of one of the shows last weekend:

Let me tell you...If there's anyone out there who might be undecided about going to see this show, you better go see them. World Class Acts like this don't just fall out of the trees. Passing on this show would be like passing on the chance to talk to Leonardo Da Vinci, Einstein, Galileo, Copernicus, The Beatles, Jimi....Well you get the point. Thanks for the effort in coming to town, thanks for the great music. You enrich the planet we live on...We missed you! Stay safe, keep playing (as always) and COME BACK OFTEN!

Paul Roberts

I've taken the time to alert those of you who have the opportunity to see this show for YOUR benefit. 2000 years ago there were many who didn't go to hear the young rabbi from Nazareth speak because they were too busy, it was too far away, the farm needed to be tilled, the cows needed to be milked, etc.

I guess your can lead a horse to water . . .

Go see Steve Morse!!!

". . the young rabbi from Nazareth . ."

Which one was he? . . the bass player???

I'll have t'check my old album covers . . . none of 'em "looked" Jewish . . .

Mitch;
Morse probably hits the stage around 9:30? 10:00??
That's WAY past Moody's bedtime . . .

Comparing anybody to Christ is a losing proposition. His followers won't agree and the rest won't fully appreciate the point. It's probably more apt (apter?) to talk about Londoners who had better things to do on Jimi's last tour.

Mitch,

I appreciate the push, but I'm going to hang out with friends from out of state who I don't see very often, doing something that was planned from way back.

There are a number of great musicians that I would bust a gut to go see, but honestly, Steve Morse isn't one of them. But I'd probably forsake seeing even my favorites in order to spend time with these friends.

I've got my priorities.

Paul, I said that I’d shut up after my last post.

So Mitch, shut up then.

Done.

DId not know about the Deep Purple thing either?

His work with the Dregs is some of the most amazing.......Country meets Fusion Jazz meets Shred meets Southern Rock. Love the way they go from one style to the next.
I think I had an old Album from Steve once called Southern Steel. He was Shreding about as early on as Eddy or any of the rst. But his style is very diverse.....He can go from a Steve howe thing to Roy Clark or right through Steve Vai.
I'd like to see this guy myself. HOpe he makes it to Upstate NY sometime. I'd actually like to see the Dixie Dregs.

OK ... so I guess there's no takers.

But since I trolled the Coach House's website, I did manage to buy 4 tickets to the Richard Thompson show in March. Since I made dinner reservations, they told me I would have a table right up front. :)

What a great venue. Total capacity of 480. Some of the acts coming up there include Jake Shimabukuro, John Waite, Tim Reynolds, The Smithereens, Robben Ford, The English Beat, Juice Newton, Shooter Jennings, Tommy Castro and Charlie Musselwhite, and Gary Hoey. Moody, I'll be hanging around your place a bit more.

The Smithereens are one of my all time faves (I guess I'm really a child of the 80's - hahaha). I will definitely catch that show too. And of course, my surf leanings will make Gary Hoey a must see ... besides, he has nice things to say about Hamers and Adamii.

Next time someone sees RT, could you tell him that there are actually settlers north of NYC? Thanks much.
