To:
Paul Templeton:
For going against your better judgement and making it possible for me to attend anyway. Most appreciated.

Paul Moody (and Gerri):
For your gracious, steadfast and very tolerant hospitality... (getting rid of OFCer's by midnight ain't easy. ;) )

Kim and Fred:
Thanks for going out of your way to make airport runs. It's so great when folks volunteer to make your life easier and you both made mine easier...

To all on the board who attended... Thanks for a wonderful experience....

MIDNIGHT?!?!?!?!?!?!

It was actually something past midnight. I wasn't getting the "get the hell out of here" hint, so someone started detuning the guitar on me mid-song. I figured they wanted me to emulate Matt Smith so I went with it (that's right ... during his Friday night set Matt did an awesome "tuner" solo). That's when some crazy bearded dude in a flower shirt physically removed me from the premises.

Ditto on what Jeff said. Thanks to Temp for getting us into the menagerie. Thanks to Paul and Jerrie for inviting the circus into their home not once, but twice. Thanks to Al and Miles for setting the stage and the chance to call a truly amazing group of folks my friends.

You guys remember that really cool Chandler Lap Steel I was playing at Moody's on Thursday? Well, British Airways have managed to lose it.

They're gonna pay for a new one, plus shipping, VAT and import duty. THe next airline jobsworth who tells me I have to check a musical instrument is gonna wind up injured.

I'm curious, did you gate check it?

I was already carrying an Adamas and a roll-away case as carry-on so it wasn't practical to gate check. The Lap was in it's original shipping cartons with any mention of Chandler Guitars obscured so it was just an anonymous cardboard box. The problem occured because the LA flight was delayed and my luggage including the Lap Steel didn't make the Heathrow connection. My clothes and business stuff arrived this morning. The guitar isn't showing up on their systems. They've also managed to lose all the G-band promo material.

Paul,
Sorry to hear about your bad luck. I thought loosing the camera the first time was bad enough. Now the lap steel, OUCH. I hope that this won't discourage you from visiting the states.

Oh man, that's craptastic. So the stuff stayed in LA, giving the TSA and or baggage handlers time to pilfer and / or larceny it.

Not a lot, $700ish but GC are doing a killer deal at $349. Given the current weakness of the $ against the £, it was too good to miss. Looks like I'm missing it now!

One of the G-band crew took it to London as carry-on. I'll have it in a few days.

bummer paul, and you sounded so good on it at the ofc party at paul's. i once had several thousand's worth (60's money)of hot rod parts i hand carried and checked in as baggage to anchorage ak from california during an airport power blackout after i arrived. the stuff never surfaced even in the small drag strip community in alaska. the airline only covered a tiny fraction of the cost. hope you fare better.

yep, i'd say no shit, but that would be the opposite of what happened. what's the world coming to when a mexican resident has to come to california to get montezumas revenge? if it wasnt for my ovation amigos, i still might be in anaheim drinking pepto bismol. fred wouldn't let me eat for two days and then brought me some rice and chicken. put me on the mend. fred had a pretty cool pile of stuff in storage for me. i planned on bringing it back but the virus altered the plan.
i hate missing the last day of namm and the great last minute deals. next year--------i'm only eating stuff i bring myself.
