My earlier years were marked by their devotion to excess, but I stayed banjo-free ;) On reflection I would have been better off buying a banjo and staying excess-free. :D

Your mentioning of Neil Young. He is probably not the best lead guitarist but the music he creates with it is memorable and awesome. Just can't relate to EVH though I admit he is a awesome player. Give me Neils one note solo on Cinnamon Girl.

I think he is a good producer, writer, visionary and although one of my favorite guitarists, still over-rated. Of these tunes we're chatting about, I think a few don't belong on the list at all. First, there aren't ANY solo's listed although I know that term is mis-used all the time. We are mostly referring to leads, not solos. Also, tunes like Hotel California and Freebird (unless you are referring to the slide part at the begining) are not even single artist leads.

The guy is amazing...has anyone ever wrung more music out of a single note? But the Top 100 list has him at #33 for "The Thrill is Gone". Good song, but his lead on "I've Always Been Lonely" is far better and more demonstrative of his style and genius.
