I have to admit, this one's growing on me, altho' I keep thinking that there's a pirate's treasure map in the epaulet.

But with the OFC guitar coming up very soon, It's going to be quite a while before I'm back in the guitar buying market (several years?)....

I'm with you, Paul. I'm going to have to sell the BMW soon to raise some money, but that's supposed to go to pay off the Honda. This Ovation obsession is killing the car obsession.

I do believe that the '07 Collector would keep me happy for whatever remains of my life. What a great looking guitar, and it must sound pretty darned good too.

For some reason this guitar just does not tickle my fancy. But nice instrument for sure, and I bet they sell a ton of them. Dave

Seems as though nearly all the Adamas and Special O's at NAMM had Sperzel tuners. I'm guessing Schaller doesn't make the variety of designs and colors to achieve the look Ovation was going for in this show.

It doesn't even come close to the 05, just my opinion.

and as we all know, opinions are like 'bottoms' - everyone's got one.

(That's the clean 'slipkid manifesto' version)

It's a nice enough guitar and better than some. It's just a concept that is way past it's time. Why not figure out what the next "thing" will be and do that?

I got to play two '06 Collectors this weekend. Nice guitars, but neither sounded any better than the 6778LX that I compared them to.

I "love" the top...
I want it on a 12 fret slott head.
I "think" the sound and feel would be killer. If the tax man is kind I might need to call my friend Al.

Hi WOZ how are ya? Every time I talk about wishing for another guitar, I remind my wife what yours told her It could be worse you could collect cars. She still talks about how you took those Adamas of yours and let everyone play them. Good memories hope to see you at the next tour.

Can I make an appointment to have your wife talk to mine, Woz. I like what she has to say, except mine would say that I collect cars, too.

It may be past time but I'm guessing they finally got it right, they should have done this instead of the 05 and 06, the ones I've played have been disapointing, unless of coarse the countour concept is the culprit, Which I hope not!!!

I believe a Collectors Edition guitar should accomplish the following:

1. Introduce some new design, material, or construction concept.
2. Be forward thinking and experimental.
3. Cause polarized opinions (love it or hate it).
4. Extremely limited quantity (200 units).
5. Be memorable years after the fact.

Certain collectors models fit this criteria. Most do not. The problem I have is that too many of them are just cookie cutter guitars with a little different icing. Why not open it up? Try some radical stuff? At only 200 units how bad can you fuck it up? We've seen 2-3 really cool reso's. Why not do a run of reso's one year? Baritones? mando? 7-string guitar? Why can't the collector guitar be an Adamas? or some hybrid? An A/E viper type thing? A ukulele?

The '07 may be a very nice guitar (not for me), but what frustrates me is that Ovation fails to use the opportunity to really use their imagination. Usually.

I have heard that the 1987 Collectors is an awesome guitar. I've never played one.

The 1997 Collectors was different and some different concepts were tried. I have one of these and it is a great guitar.

I have to agree with Dave. The 07 collectors is a guitar containing some different elements of existing features. Nice guitar but nothing that would really jump out at you as being new and innovative.

And I really do not like the epaulet. My opinion

How about a collectors edition Storm?

Or a collectors edition of the Git played by the guy from, what, Queens of The Stone Age?

Hell, Ovation started 'outside the box' why have they crawled back in it?

It's odd that this seller show pics of the tan case when it's NLA. He did the same thing for the #47 RI.

The case is black. It's just bad lighting. Brown case never had the script logo, only block letter logo. Dave
