if deleting IE7 does not solve your troubles, then do the System Restore. that should take care of it.

A friend of my wife's set it up so that our four computers could be plugged into the router, and then one of the computers is designated as the primary computer, and the parrallel (or is it the printer cable) comes out of there. Anyway, it's not usb.
A lot of Brother multifunction printers don't have a parallel port. You HAVE to use the USB. Some have a network port which is even worse than USB.

Al, check the device manager and make sure you don't have any red question marks on any devices (such as the usb hub). IE7 may have messed with your drivers.

Al, look at the good news. Now you know what it is that was making you crazy. Not that you've fixed it, you can't, but at least you know....

Al,

Have you ever considered that if you would accept PayPal, then everything would be electronic and you would have no need for a printer?

OK, I'll shut up now. But isn't it ironic that on the day Mr. Gates introduces his new OS that your own computer empire comes crashing down all around you?

Ha! I knew you hadn't given up!

Have you rebooted since removing IE7?

What is it with this Brother sh*t? They died a death over here years ago. You have to make a real effort to find a stockist here.

Buy a Lexmark. Or an Epson. Or a Cannon.

and then, there was the time i was in chicago visiting. i went to the upper side and heard a group called the "Upper Side Band" (no ovations). i imagine if you head south there might just be a "Lower Side Band" too. perhaps they play ovations...

You know, if we had any stay at home moms on this board, maybe they'd post all the time just to try to get some contact with "adults." Step away from the computer Lanaki and go check on the kids.

mark,
the kids were napping while i was here "alone" waiting for my video files to render. i am usually in the midst of a video production when i post here as i am awaiting the file rendering or just to give myself a break. i've got a major wedding production going on currently and also some tv public service announcements for the local Hospice. i do need adult interaction during the long days here at home. my wife is now attending college 3 days a week on top of her rigorous work schedule.

poor al, he's got troubles and this thread is gettin' further from being his answer...

My wife used to want to talk to me when I got home, but I was no better than talking to the kids. Now all I talk about is guitars, so she prefers talking to the kids. Enjoy your time with them Lanaki. It goes too fast.

I resemble all of that! Except the work part.
Need to plan some nice vacations for the Summer.

Probably best if I don't bring a guitar.
