Greetings All,
I'm sure this has been covered, but I'm new here, What are considered to be to best pickups used on old Ovation electrics? Those blade type p/u's look very Hofner, Am I right?
Regards,
John

Greetings John,
I think you might need to be more Specific. Pickups are pretty subjective too. The pickups were made by Ovation.

Breadwinner I think the Toroidal were the best.
I never warmed up to the humbuckers of the Preacher Deluxe or Deacon.
The UKII pickups are awesome.
My favorite pickups overall are the Viper pickups.
For the Storm Series they used a couple of different types, but the somewhat generic ones they used on the Eclipse are my favorites for those.

If you have a hollowbody, I think they might have been made by Schaller. Not easy to find. Here's one for sale: Edensharvest pickup.

I think they sound a bit like a clean 335. I don't much like the sound of those pickups distorted, but clean they are great. But that's just my opinion.
