I remember (a few years ago), Letterman announcing on his show that Melman had passed away, and cut to a video montage of "greatest bits".

At the end when the applaused died down, Letterman was saying how much Melman would be "missed", when Melman suddenly APPEARED from behind the curtain and shouted "Hey!!! . . I'm not f@ckin' DEAD!!!".
