Joined: March 2007 Posts: 4 Location: Miami | Hello, I just picked up an ovation balladeer, model 1111-4, serial number 4481 (typewriter style numbers, all black). the back is the rough surface (not shiny), and the tuners are kluson deluxe. it has no onboard electronics - someone had put a dearmond 210 on it (thankfully). i'm having trouble figuring out whether this guitar is from 1968 or 1988. any help is much appreciated.

I thought I had narrowed it down to a '70 or '71 but then all the pictures I have seen of those years have the modern shaped bridges. And all the pictures of '68 and '69's seem to have a shiney bowl. So I can only guess that it was made somewhere late '69 or early '70. It's a shame about the label being defaced somewhat, it's otherwise in good condition with no finish cracks. And it's a pretty nice sounding instrument, but no 1537.
