I'm thinking about adding this old soldier Ovation Acoustic Electric Guitar, Model 1985-1, Collectors' Series to my collection. What's going on with the neck? Is the neck coming apart? How much will it take to fix it?

Hameritis on an Ovation? Interesting ... I've not seen that before. Overall, it won't affect the sound of the guitar one whit, and if you really like that guitar and can get it cheap, you can always send it back to the factory or another competent shop and have if fixed. If it bothers you. Chances are, you won't even feel it when you play.

Ingrid,

It may only be peeling finish or it may have started by a crack between the fretboard and the neck - which would have been really bad.

I just noticed you are my NW neighbor, Watch for gathering plans over the Summer!

I'd pick it up just for a beater.
