Another link sent by one of my friend.
Jean-Félix Lalanne playing the ADAMAS SLOTHEAD #37!!

You must wait till 3.30 mn of this video.

It's in French but you don't need to speak French to listen to the incredible sound of that guitar!! :D

JFL says that the #37 is full of bass and that she's got an amazing projection.
It's an Adamas... ;)

J :)

What was the double-cutaway next to it?
(I couldn't pick out anything that he was saying that even RESEMBLED a "name").

Also, at the end of his description of the Adamas (where the camera was panning "down" the headstock/neck), did he mention something about "James Taylor"??

My inadequacies in the French language are equal to my inadequacies as a guitarist . . .

Thanks for posting that.

Yes Cliff, JFL talks about a James Tyler electric guitar and he says that it's a fantastic guitar.
I don't know anything about this brand... :(
I've found THIS LINK ON THE WEB.

The double cutaway is a special guitar (he doesn't give the brand).
JFL called her his "6/12 Guitar".
This guitar is tuned with the 6 strings an octave higher from a 12 string set.
I don't know if you can understand what I mean with my poor English??
He's using this guitar in studio for doubling each note played with his Nylon Guitar.
By this way, he's got the warm sound of the nylon strings and the brightness and precision of this steel string guitar.

The Takamine nylon string is a custom order made in 1985 and built by M.Hirade.
This is a prototype and the first one to have a cutaway.
JFL is playing that one at the Olympia in Paris in 1988 with Marcel Dadi.

Not sure that you will understand all the things I've wrote but I've done my best... :D

J :)

Jerome, thanks so much for the link. I'm very proud: I can understand some "French" words: country, picking, bass, Adamas!

Can somebody help me with downloading the video?

The Tyler is the Strat style immediately behind the Adamas. The other solidbody is a Line6 Variax. Sounds like the double-cut is in Nashville tuning. The heart-shaped soundhole is very Zemaitis, but it's definately not a Zemaitis. Headstock looks like a Gianini, but it's probably not one of those either.

Yes he is the owner of #37! Marcel Dadi gave (sold???) him the guitar.

Marcel also gave him the proto #19:

but it looks like JFL gave it to his brother Francis Lalanne who is a french popular singer but not that much a guitar player.

jeff,
talk about something being inside a guitar...whatever is in that one must feel like being in jail with barred windows.
