Hi there,

I had no idea there were so many Ovation fans around. I'm a huge fan of the Breadwinner; maybe my all time favorite guitar. I had a 1977 Ovation Breadwinner that I bought new. It was recently stolen. As I'm sure you already know and I have found out they have gotten really expensive on eBay.

So I decided to do something different. I decided to build a Breadwinner. Not just any Breadwinner but a double neck 6/12 string. I have the solid mahogany body ready to go and I found a 6 string neck on eBay. But I've been looking for about a year and a half for a 12 string neck. No Luck.

So this looks like a good place to ask if anybody has any advice. Where can I find a Breadwinner 12 string neck? Or is it possible that somebody could build me one for a decent price. I had one guy say he'd do it for $800 but that seems pretty steep to me. After all, I'm one of those starving musicians!

I would put a picture of the body up for you guys but I don't really know how.

Anyway, any suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks everybody,

Jim Patton

Welcome Jim!
I met you as fishgiven on Ebay. You can post in the regular board now and I suggest reading some of the FAQs on posting pictures, rules, etc.

My preferred method to post pictures is to post them in an OFC Ning Page album and then post the URL here in a Topic.

Enjoy!

Okay, here are a couple of pictures of the body for my double-neck Breadwinner. This is the guitar I need the 12 string neck for.

Thanks,

Jim

No. I have kind of given up on making it really authentic. It's too hard to find the parts. You can see I even filled up the holes for the Ovation bridges and figured I could buy something that would be surface mount. I guess that's all right. It will still look cool from the stage. ;)

I'll just get some humbuckers and have coil splitting. It won't have all the possible tones of the original but I think just the sight of the guitar will be enough to give it a "Cool Factor" of 10!

The Schaller one piece Bridges for Ovations are easier to come by and will look "right".

The electronics won't matter as much, like you say.
PM if you have a budget and a plan, I may have much of what you need.
