At $70 for a set of cartridges it migth be time to cut my losses. The printer was only about $125 to start with. Got any suggestions for a printer??? BTW... I doubt any home printer can match the quality of the do-it-yourself kodak kiosk at the corner drugstore. I won't use my home printer for photos. But my wife dones like to do her own greeting card and uses it for her scrapbook hobby. We need something that will do color well enough without the having to do the glossy photo thing.

Epson looks like it has all the features and gets rave reviews for print quality. But the damn thing is an INK HOG. I swore off them a year ago and will never go back. I use Canon and HP. Dave

As much as I hate HP (for many of the same reasons I hate Micro$oft) they make very dependable good quality printers. I can buy a cheap laserjet made for occasional home use, and run the crap out of it at the office.

I get more Brothers returned then anything, they are slow, and tend to give bad ink readings. Canon have great photo guailty, you want the individual cartridge setup. HP has great photo quality also, again individual ink cartridges. Avoid Lexmark, Dell, and Kodak.(they are all Lexmarks) As a photographer, I personaly do not find the Kodak type kiosk to be any good. maybe it is because I use a higher end camera, but the colors are always off when I get them printed. Target has the kiosk and photos in an hour, even for digital photos. I have been told it is better to have them done thru the "in an hour" because it uses a more precise machine.

I put new cartridges in this sucker, and every time I go to print something, it informs me that they are empty. I got this cheapie computer, and so long as I took this printer, the whole package was half-price (after rebate). I shoulda known there was trouble when they PAID me to take the printer. So, when it don't print no more, then I need a cartridge(s). Until then...

Then they "laid him off" right before Christmas, so we went back to HP, which has local connections. We've been happy with the HP 4 in 1, except that we can't get the scanner to work.

Without the duplex printing it was $299. The nice part is that the print heads are separate from the print cartridges so when you run out of ink, you are only installing cartridges which cost well under $20 each.

Even has slots for memory cards from the camera. It uses the new Vivera ink system. Works really well on all counts and the print quality really surprised me. No match for the color laser printer I use for work, but it's great for what it is.
