I really dig my 1867 (purchased back in 1986) however, the volume knob seems to have gotten loose enough so that it will move slightly when playing live. Not easily, but, for example, I always keep it at full volume (all the way clockwise); 3 or 4 songs later if I check, the knob has backed off a few notches. It seems like it needs a slight tightening. Perhaps the tiny circular 'OP24' knob cover can be removed to reveal a screw?

Any insight is much appreciated! Thanks -J

p.s. I realize that somehow my shirt/stomach/arm or something must be making contact w/the volume knob but I can't seem to pin down when or how. All I know is that it never used to do this and if I could tighten the knob it wouldn't move so easily...

Hey Joe.....Welcome

Is it the knob that is loose or the whole pot backing off......ie are you losing volume?

a smidge of gaffer tape against the knob adds enough friction to keep it in place, but still allows you to dial it off when you need to. :D

Thanks for the replies:

AussieJames, yes, I usually keep the volume all the way up and then find that the knob(w/pot)has physically moved, lowering the volume. I then proceed to turn it up again...

afortune, the gaff tape idea sounds pretty good...I'll probably experiment...

Luckily, the 1867 has been retired to second, I now use a 1777lx as a primary with tuner and better electronics (although overall, they don't make them like the 1867 anymore for sure).
