Hi-

I've got a UKII neck that I'd like to try out. I was thinking of mounting it to my Breadwinner, but have a few questions.

The UKII neck had some glue in addition to the mounting screws. I've never removed the neck from the Breadwinner or my other Ovation electrics. Is the Breadwinner neck likely to be glued?

The UKII neck appears to have bushings for machine screws to mount the neck (instead of self-tapping wood screws). Does the Breadwinner use the same system, and are the screws interchangeable?

Thanks in advance for your help.

should be interchangable unless it's a real early weinner.

No, the Bread Weiner is from the middle era- brass bridge pieces w/ plastic cover, smaller pickups. Do you think the neck might be glued in addition to the screws?

I don't know if they did it on the early guitars off the top of my head, but the glue you speak is just a glue soaked, or coated piece of newsprint. If it is glued, after releasing the screw, just give it a light tug and it will come off. Most of the necks I have seen, the glue has long dried and cracked under vibration already and will easily come apart. It's just a technique they used for more transference.

And yes, most all the necks are interchangeable.

Thanks for the info. If the Breadwinner neck doesn't come right off when I undo the screws, I'll leave it in place. Then I'll use the screws and plate to temporarily assemble the UKII and check it out. It would be easier to use the Breadwinner or Deacon body since they already have pickups mounted, but I don't want to disturb them too much just to make a test.

The UKII is just a neck and body. The neck will need a nut and fret crowning- someone filed it flat. I have plenty of bridges and pickups to work with, but the body has no pickup mounting plates. I'm trying to decide if I'll make a project out of it or pass it on to someone else.
