I just left a message with Mr. John M. Budny customer service manager extraordinaire... and am pretty sure I'll be able to get a replacement faceplate/frame.. other than that a little cya and set-up time and will be all better.. this is a beautiful guitar, and sounds really good even with the hole where the preamp should currently be. it is stamped used on the back of the headstock.. but whatever.... It's a gorgeous deep-bowl elite. very dark walnut/brown burst.. and with the abalone on the neck and binding really sets off the contrast and glitter. the seller is a pawnbroker, and was sold as is, and is most probably shipping damage, which I can repair without too much trouble, and I know John will send me the part... so... Is it worth making a claim with UPS? or too much red tape and hassle? I've done the same repair now twice to two other op24 equipped guitars so not a big deal to me. Thanks, Glenn

If you make a claim to ups, they will want the shipper to make the claim, and at that point, they will want to come and get the guitar "for inspection". Then, you will not have the guitar or your money and will be at the mercy of the seller and ups. I went through all the hoops for about 2 months and wouldn't give up the guitar. I even offered to take it to a depot for inspection along with pictures of the damage to no avail. In short, no its not worth it.

| Joined: November 2004 Posts: 1374 | figured I'd be better off to fix it myself anyway.. I've done this procedure before.. thanks guys.. re: strap My Tony (killed the) llama cowboy special! Levy's acorn and oak leaves western strap with 2 Morgan Dollar and 1 Standing Liberty(real) and 2 old brothel tokens(also real) made into conchos, 2 abalone star conchos, and a circle/cross concho, all with horsehair tassels.... figure as long as I have this on a guitar I'm always covered for music, money, a chance at a good time(or good joke), and the lord looking over my shoulder. and the horsehair tassels keep the flies away :p re: aquarium... just been set up and stabilized, plants started going in yesterday, ornamentation later today... and fish in a few more days.. got a couple of big orange parrotfish waiting at Nahacky's aquarium when it's ready. I'll leave it alone till tomorrow.. then a new frame from the mothership..to finish the cosmetics. good as new.. the hot-rodded 1613 w/ADII elx is on it's way home.. CrimsonLake did the surgery and transplant on that one for me.. Thanks Mike!! should be here Monday or Tuesday. Glenn | ||

If so, I beleive the amp section isn't glued to the bowl, but uses the outer frame to sandwich the bowl between the two with the 4 screws like all the other "box amps". Someone correct me if I'm wrong. (wouldn't be the first time, or the last)

I took a heat gun to it to try and get the bridge off. It took quite awhile but worked pretty well in the end. The gun only goes up to 400 degrees. I have a bridge that I got from Roundback which is also mounted on a piece of an old top so I have to take the gun to that one as well. Once I glue the new bridge on, I just need to install the pup and it's good to go. The top has alot of finish cracks that I'm going to live with for now. It's a good candidate for an attempt at refinishing an acoustic - but not now. The OpPro that I installed in this one doesn't have the XLR board or the booster switch, so I didn't have to drill as many holes.
