Hi, folks. Just found this site and it's quite informative. I recently "rediscovered" my 1997 1861 Balladeer after it had been stored for several years. I have a couple of questions with which I hope you can help.

1. The guitar is an 1861-7BCL that was made as a special/limited edition for Sam Ash. The Bearclaw top is awesome and I haven't seen one quite like it. Also, its got a natural finish on the neck rather than a gloss finish. Does anyone have some general information on this particular edition (i.e., number of pieces made, rarity, etc.)?

2. How often should the battery be changed? It looks like all the strings need to be removed to reach the battery compartment ... true?

Thanks.
