I'm just back from Florida, and 24 hours ago I was still at Designzilla's home in Orlando, enjoying a heapin' helpin' o' hospitality. Thanks to DZ and his wonderful family, and especially Lady Zilla for a great time. MusicMike, to answer your question from that other thread, Zilla is planning an October jam at his house. And get this... unless 50 people show, there's room to sleep all of us and rock for a couple of days, like the college road trip you never thought you'd do again, but with dogs climbing all over you! If you own Milk Bone underwear, leave it at home. Here's how you get there: When you pass the building shaped like a huge alligator, you're entering the town of Christmas, FL, where people leave their Christmas decorations up all year. Pass by these wonders as quickly as the law will allow, and soon you'll come to a building shaped like an ice cream cone. You're almost there! Up ahead lake a left, left, left, right, and right and proceed to the palacial Casa de Zilla. It's that easy. Thanks again, DZ! Jas

I will head to SE Hotlanta first, then go south,,,look for a big alligator (?) then act like Santa. Trboy, Music, Blues...who had the most seats again? Heck, we will bring the families and have us a convoy (Breaker, breaker!) We can shoot for 50 people, plus dogs (I have 1 dog and a cat that thinks he's a dog). I ain't got no dark ol vintage Ovations, but have a pretty Red Viper (although slightly bruised by a wind blowover at the Southern Jam). DZ, you have large bal....cahon....uh, you know what I mean, to offer to host the Florida Jam. DO NOT offer anyone an extended stay. We WILL take you up on it! Captain, please make a lifesize poster of Lanaki for the Jam. It would not be the same without him. Don't worry about a voice for the poster, it would be gone after the first few songs anyway. :p Lookin Forward to IT! Jim

I'll make a formal-like announcement in a thread in the next day or so. Jim, I'll loose some hair and make sure I'm wearing one of my Hawaiian shirts next time!

I took my Hawaiian shirt, but I only have one and didn't want to seem redundant so close to the Ashevile date. I will apologize, but only if you can produce a pic of CrimsonLake wearing one at the California meetup. Also, I was trying to project the illusion of normalcy. It didn't help that Zilla kept introducing me with "Come meet the wierd guy I met on the internet". Let me give you a clue how cool they were. Mrs. Zilla grilled up a mess of big steaks and chicken and that was just the beginning of a feast fit for a captain, and led the post dinner tour of the castle. SHE WANTS DZ TO KEEP BUYING GUITARS so they can decorate the house with them! And after a couple of hours, Daughterzilla brings out a plate of fresh baked cookies and some milk.

Jas, there is nothing normal about any of us. Mike (crimsonLake), any pics from the California dinner? (Hint: you can Photoshop the Hawaiian shirts in). Mrs. Zilla, will you have a LOOOONNNGGG chat with my wife in October? The guitars as art thing hasn't flown in the Beggin household so far. Ahhh, milk and cookies..............

That's one of the remaining guitars that I must try/see in person. Somebody please enlighten me. That grayburst Viper of DZ's seemed way heavier than my sunburst. Am I dreaming?

Mine was the lightest with the other weights varying upwards of a pound . Mine was made in '75. No enlightenment here, but your observation is correct.

I'm 6'2"(shrinking with age!) and I know Captn' towered over me a few inches...say 6'4"? so that makes you about 6'8"or9"???? (that's assuming that Jas in not standing in a hole and you're not on a milk crate! :D ) I'm ready for a fall roadtrip in October as long as it's not the weekend of the 6th....My oldest son is gettin' hitched Oct.6th.......(hint,hint)

Joined: February 2003 Posts: 2177 Location: the BIG Metropolis of TR | I thought you talked fine! ;) .....speaking of accents.....Maribeth grew up on a farm in Ohio (Bellevue,Ohio up near lake Erie and 60mi E of Toledo) one of twelve children (cheaper by the dozen on the farm....9girls/3boys) We married in '78 and settled in S.C. and she became a Southerner! She developed a Southern drawl in no time and it was funny, because when we would return to Ohio at holidays or visits, all of her family (remember there were twelve siblings, their wives/hubbies,their kids, aunts, uncles, inlaws and outlaws...) would all gather around and want Maribeth to just "say something!".....they all got a kick out of her "new" accent!(I thought she talked fine! ;) )

Wait til the zilla's get a load of us. I'm only 6'4", but DZ looks to be an inch or two taller. Maybe just because he has all that hair! EDIT: Do y'all really think the Zilla's know what they are in for?
