1778tx?

GW .....the suffix after the model number is the colour/finish.

So it must be the finish.......-5 is black......
-P is pewter......-PW........I've no idea....but someone here will.

"P" is textured Pewter, like the old T's.
"PW" is the new Pewter, and it is a smooth, shiny finish.
To quote the Ovation website "ultra-thin gloss pewter finish"...

Here is the LINK to the THREE types of TX\'s...

You will notice that only the 1778TX-5 actually has a Textured top. The others are gloss.
And "Jukebox Joe" did a side-by-side and wasn't impressed by the new Textured top.

There is also the 2078TX and 2058TX which are Contour bowls.

I guess you list your Guitars 1986 Collectors 12 string 1114 1970's vintage 1998 sunburst elite custom 6 string 1778tx5 elite gretch tenn. Chet Atkins model late 60's model

Mmmm... That is a profound question.
A 1778TX in Not a Celebrity, but it is made in Korea.
It is not a USA Elite T... But it is not a Celebrity.

The reason I'm asking is because Ovation sent me a owners book that said Celebrity on the cover when the guitar was sent to me.
