There are many good venues, but fewer great Venues. Philadelphia area has some terrific ones, but for me, the best is the Keswick theater, in Germantown/north Philly. It may be the best venue I've been to for concerts. The little known 'Scottish Rite Auditorium', in south Jersey is a great place to see shows In D.C. there are a bunch too, but 'The Barns at Wolf Trap' is truly excellent. The Senator Theater in Baltimore is outstanding.

The architecture and use of materials/surfaces are phenomenal! I've been to several instrumental shows there (George Winston, Anoushka Shankar, and James Galway come to mind) with absolutely NO sound reinforcement, and heard EVERY note clearly. Also saw bands like Yes and Tull there a couple of times. The sonic clarity is brilliant!

That's probably the last place I can remember where you could buy loose joints at a show. Better today though is the IMAC Theater in Huntington. The Tarrytown Music Hall has very nice acoustics too.

Had a great time, tho! | ||
