Hi ! I have been playing acoustic guitar since I was 20, I am Italian and lived in Italy, Belgium and now in Michigan. My house (s) have seen many acoustic guitars , traditional and not (carbon fiber).
I have always been fascinated by Ovation, but never bought one because I can handle a 11/16 neck.
My hands are big, and even my dreadnought (a Taylor) has a 1 3/4 neck. I am mainly a finger style amateur guitar player.
My question is: Why it is SO difficult, and SO expensive, to get an Ovation guitar with a 1 3/4 neck ? I believe, if I am not wrong, that there is only one (expensive) model available with steel strings. Is it because Ovation guitars are NOT considered good for finger picking ?
Thank you for your comments !

Where are the moderators??

Gerardo, if you keep your eyes open, you can get an older Folklore on feeBay for under $500, and it's got a 1 7/8 neck - even better for big hands.

And they sound wonderful.

I have a '76 Ovation Folklore w/ 1-7/8" neck. Acoustic only, used but serviceable Ovation ultralite case. $350+shipping.

I guess this is an entirely different animal than the new Folklores, but it doesn't cost $1,600 : )

Gerardo, good luck with your search. I am a lifelong Ovation player who wanted to get a more "traditional" acoustic like a Taylor. I actually bought a Taylor 410 Dreadnought. Great guitar, but I could not get used to the 1 3/4" neck. I returned it and bought a new Custom Legend 2079LX. Hang in there, you will find something that works for you...
