Hi,

I have a 1982 1112 Balladeer I bought, well maybe in late 1983 and it has been through the open mike, campfire, bar wars. A few years ago it started breaking strings while playing and I put it away. Recently, I opened the case and brought it to a guitar center. The kid behind the counter told me that several things were wrong. The bridge is actually lifting the fac eof the guitar and the finish has several spider cracks around the bridge and one ling one straight down the center. It also has a large microphone stand mark in the face but that was jose curevo's fault. The bridge is also lifting up. I am going to be returning it to the Ovation factory but they are in a mid-summer shut-down for 2 weeks. So I guess I have 2 weeks to rethink that decision. There are several luthiers in the area that I could contact.

Question: Since my guitar seems to need a complete make-over, anybody have any experience in how much it may cost?

Thanks guys and good to be here, I love my ovation and would like to get it playing again

Thanks

Welcome!

Ask yourself if you want it just playable or pristine?

The 1112 (got one, my first) has the epoxied in Neck pocket so they will basically sacrifice the body and attache your neck to a new body.

They may be able to sand off the Bridge and the finish and re shoot if the top is sound.

How much of your original do you want to keep?

Thanks MWoody, I think that may be a good option. I believe the front wood has started to warp as it seems the bridge is pulling the wood upward. I'll send it back and see what they say.
