Hi All

John here in Spain, really struggling with Ovation research!
I play a Takamine EN10 at the moment but have always wanted an Ovation. I can't for the life of me find out which models are made in the USA :-(
I quite like the look of the standard balladeers, 1771 AX and 2771 AX , but have seen the same numbers with LX...like "standard balladeer 1771LX" what's that? what's the difference between ax and lx??? it's all sooooo confusiiing.

I also like the Legend 1777 LX and 2077 LX....also the custom legend 1769..and c2079lx..

It's hard to find which is made where :( , so far I have only discovered that a 1861 balladeer is made in Korea...

Sorry for the long post!

Thanks so much for any info :-))

Hi John and welcome.

Maybe this will help.

Not long ago, Balladeers were made in the US but were eventually shifted overseas. Put simply, the -LX indicates USA manufacture and the -AX indicates overseas manufacture.

Al Legends are still US-made.

And they are all very good guitars.

Good luck with your search and feel free to stay a while.
