This is on the bay - am I crazy or did Adamas make a model that carries the ovation logo on the headstock? Okay, the crazy part is a moot point...no need to discuss that topic :p

The decoder lists model 1897 as an Adamas SMT shallow bowl 6 string in Elite style.
Maybe neck was replaced???

I've seen a couple of obvious SMT type tops with the Ovation logo on the headstock and it's got me really curious too.

Any experts care to let us in on what's going on?

It's on the up and up. I believe that is my old Adamas 1897. It was made for Sam Ash and I bought it new with the Ovation Logo on the headstock.

I think Fugot got it from the women I sold it to.

Real nice live, and I'll bet it plays like melted butter.

It would make a great giggin' giutar. OPx... Stellar plugged-in and very sexy under lights. With light strings it plays like a 'lectric

in the late 90's they were toying with the idea of stopping the adamas name and made a bunch of carbon fiber guitars and branded them ovation.
that did not last long.

I don't know why someone hasn't written a book on the Adamas guitar, it really would be a facinating read.I think it would appeal to the general guitar population and not just O Heads.

That's a nice idea. Maybe get a retired English teacher to do it?

Then we could look forward to an OFC Tour book signing :) . I'm not sure if I would stand on line for 12 hours like people did for the last Harry Potter book, but I would still want one.
Maybe I'll wait till Costco gets it.

1. My SMT 12-string does have an "Ovation" logo on it (production model, bought from GC)
2. Adamas book - it's actually a sequel to the latest Harry Potter book, it should come out soon after the dark lord is finished proof reading it.

I just picked up a super-shallow ruby graphite Adamas 1897, just like the one described in this thread. WOW! It's my third Ovation (first Adamas) and I'm in Love! I put fairly light strings (11's) on it, and it plays as smooth as any of my electrics. Plugged in, it's a dream and the electronics let me create my own sound with it. What a find!
