She is in Florida right now in intensive care with an MG specialist - had the engine and transmission rebuilt and a hundred other things - she will be home this coming Sunday or Monday. She drives like a dream now....before that, it was a crap shoot if you got home alive.

I must say that she has travel more than I have - she came from Michigan (owned by a con artist who said she was in perfect condition)shipped to me in Texas - after one month of terror on the highway with her - she was shipped to Flordia for a major restoration and now she is being shipped back to Texas where I can finally enjoy her. I have wished that a wart the size of Montana is growing in an unnatural place on the man in Michigan!!!!

You drive so much more attentively with your butt four inches off the asphalt and none of that wimpy safety crap! :p

Very nice!

Wire wheels - the automotive equivalent of a slothead. Excellent.
I was born and raised 3 miles from WHERE the engine was built. Depressingly I was alive and kicking WHEN it was built......

I've got a friend who put about 10 years and a small fortune into an MGA. As I kept pointing out to him they were crap cars when they were built - he kept pointing out that there was a great car struggling to get out from inside the crap one.
My neighbour (who's ass I covet) had one of the latest MGs. It spent 90% of its life in the shop having the transmission, oil leaks and roof leaks fixed. Then they went bust.
The Chinese bought MG 2 years ago......

I hope your Florida guy fixed it good. Enjoy.

Awwwww - classic cars   They can be your greatest joy or your worst nightmare. If they are treated right and are worked on by a professional who actually knows what they are doing, they can turn out to be very reliable cars. Just riding in a car that is 52 years old is a treat and the looks you get are priceless.

If I was inclined, I could fly to Florida and drive her back to Texas - that is how good she is now. Of course, I have no intentions of driving in the heat of summer - the car would be fine but I would be found dead on the side of the road from the lack of air conditioning. :)

I don't know much about the MG's of today ( only recently found out that they were still being made) but if you can find that special MG of the past, it will put a smile across your face - and to get that smile, it will take a lot of money.

It might have helped if the man I bought it from had told me that it had been sitting in the "GReat Room" of his house for 13 years as a piece of art deco - now please - any car that sits that long - there are going to be 1,000 problems.

I am happy to report, even though my pocket book it now empty, that a piece of history has been saved. :)
