Hello........new guy here.....just scored my first ovation C2078LX

I have a question about the OP-Pro Preamp. Mine came with a OP Pro Studio version. On the Ovation website I see two versions OP-Pro and OP-Pro Studio.

Did I get the right preamp? The Ovation website shows the non-studio version with this guitar. Also is one version better than the other?

Thanks.

Newer Custom LX models are coming with the OP-Pro Studio. Some would say the Studio (with the built in Compressor and Low frequency exciter) is the better preamp. I have guitars with the Pro, Studio, and the VIP-5. None of them suck.

I am very disappointed with the op-pro anything. Bought a legend LX when it was newly released and the thing had no power at all. John Budny sent me a new op-pro and the thing kept eating batteries. I finally gave the guitar away. In 2006 I went to the Factory tour and purchased a custom legend lx thru Al and it also had problems with the op-pro so John sent me the op-pro studio. I guess it's ok. however, It doesn't measure up to the Quality I have come to trust. I wish they would redesign OPTIMA to fit the lx because op-pro kinda sucks. I am really sorry to say this expecially since John and Kim know how I feel about ovation. I will not be purchasing any more Ovations until this situation is addressed.

Other than battery consumption, what specific issues do you have with the Op-Pro line?

Maybe have John/Kim swap the Op-Pro for an Op-40 or Op-50. You need a different can, but it should fit the opening.
