Location: Florida | Hey. I have a 1658 CL. Every time I try to tune, the tuners seem to drop down a step and make a cracking noise-- like splitting wood. Can someone help? I tried tighting them. Do I need new ones?

Location: Scotland | As none of the mods have gotten to this yet let me offer the suggestion that it sounds to me like a nut problem rather than the machines. Try lubing the nut slots with graphite paste, or rub a little HB pencil lead into each slot. If that cures or reduces the problem then you either need to have a new nut made, or if you have the skills and tools, re-cut the existing nut. |

Location: Upper Left USA | So I guess that ChrisD12/Johnston lives in Eastern PA/FL and forgot his password...
That's why this question went unanswered but I didn't catch the dual identity until now.
And I second(ed) the Nut solution.
Now I just question the validity of the Questioner? |
