On the stand next to the bed, Viper electric (for playing at night). On the wall hanger just inside the door...that varies, currently a 97 Collector's. I have a very pretty Tacoma Koa EKK9C on the way that will take that spot for a while.

All my guitars are cased. It's always been that way since I got my first real guitar at age 10 or so. Nowadays with kids and dogs in the house it seems too hazardous to leave nice instruments out. And I don't want to play a crappy instrument.

It's easy enough to pull out a guitar to play. My current favorite is a Hohner G3T broomstick or the daughter's 1778 Elite T.

My puppy once tried to mouth a guitar I had on a stand during her teething phase. My right foot launched into automatic counter-attack and lauched her butt into the air, over her thick skull, and flipped her over in a somersault.

Pretty much, she avoids guitars in the stand nowadays. ;)

Funny... I did the very same thing to my brother's-girlfriend's infant grandchild. Taught that li'l fu¢ker a quick lesson.

Since the accident that gave Gertrude her extra "sound vent," mine all stay cased. Jewel (s/s LX) is the one who gets played all the time, except when the yearning for a big boomy sound, wonderful neck and DADGAD overwhelm me and I play Gertrude (and live with the resulting pain.)
I play Plink (cheapie mando) quite a bit now, too.

In the family room, the 30th Anniversary Custom Legend. It's actually in reach of the couch, because the lazy boy's arms are too big to play the guitar. Down in the music room all the rest are in reach and the old recliner's arms are so flattened out that I can play guitar in the chair.

In the home office I'll grab #47 or the Millenium for acoustics and the Viper for a solidbody.

And a nice singlemalt scotch... currently taste testing and haven't settled on one yet... any suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestions. Glenfiddich is up next as I happen to have a bottle here.

Also have:

Balvenie 15 (the one that Jason enjoyed so much at the tour)
Balvenie 12
Macallan 12
Lagavulin 16

I better start keeping notes or I'll never remember what I thought of them!

Laphroaig 15 is my current favorite tat I can afford. If money isn't an issue its hard to beat a 25 year old Macallan.

Everything is within easy reach on the walls with two exceptions, my Legend Ltd 1651 and '99 American Standard Strat with SRV Texas Specials, both of which remain in stands alongside the guitar stool in front of the music stands.

before i sold it, the taylor big baby was always out of its case and close at hand. it handled hawaii's climate well, played like melted butter and sounded great for a $350 guitar. i like to play guitar propped up while lying in bed in the evenings and roundbacks don't work so well in this position without bending a knee up to hold it in place. with the exception of the snake t-bolt on loan from musicmike, i am down to two guitars. of those two, the takamine EF75 is certainly the most comfortable and easiest to play in my preferred posture. it is also a great serenading-the-wife guitar :D

(it has to stay in its case when not in use though)

On the stand (inside the door to the master bedroom) is a beautisimous 1681. Next to my comfy chair in the family room, not on a stand, but leaning up against the arm of said chair at all times for the last, uh, long time, is a first-run Heritage H137D.

The 1681 gets played first thing in the morning, and last thing at night. The H137D gets played the rest of the time. Unless I'm teaching Parker (now 15 months) to strum the uke (which is stashed conveniently behind said comfy chair).
