Location: Buffalo,NY | ...Received it yesterday but didn't have the opportunity to tune it up and play it until this afternoon.
Very rich sounding: excellent, smooth bottom end, very good mids and highs. Very articulate, easy to hear every note when playing chords. Very interesting V neck ; will take a little getting use to but I'm up for it. Compared to the guitar itself, the neck is massive. What wood is the neck made out of ??
The guitar is just gorgeous and much better in person than photos.
I was very worried about playing at the 12th fret with out a cutaway , but it is no problem with this guitar. I can see now why every one suggested that I get one of these guitars if I was going with an Adamas 12 string.Thank for talking me in to it !! Fortunately an OFC member had a 1688-8 to sell so this worked out very nicely for both of us.

Location: SoCal | The neck feels heavy because it has the K-bar in it. It is very very stable. You'll get used to it. This is a very serious instrument for serious players (I know, I've got one so that blows that statement out of the water). |

Location: Buffalo,NY | I finally had a chance to plug this guitar in and listen to it electric-acoustically.
I have an old Peavey XR-600C that I use exclusively for acoustics. I also have a separate pedal board for my acoustics that has a Boss DD-20 digital delay and an Analogman Stereo Chorus. I have often lusted after a Genz-Benz acoustic amp but in the final analysis, the Peavey sounds so good that even I can't justify it !!It has a great Reverb; which I generally use just a touch of. Plus it has 6 inputs so the whole band can run acoustics into one amp. I have the amp running into 2 Peavey 15 inch cabs with horns that I bought as a package with the PA many years ago.
All I can say is wow ! This guitar has a very big sound; Somewhat reminiscent of it's sound acoustically; however when amplified I think you get a significant psycho-acoustic effect because of the increase in volume which just magnifies how good this guitar sounds. The bottom end is everything I could want in a 12 String and the mids and highs are still very articulate with excellent chime; not shrill at all.Chords sound excellent and there is no muddiness across the sound spectrum . This is regardless of where I play on the neck. I had the EQ set on flat on the guitar preamp.
As usual, I didn't have enough time to really put it through its paces, but will hopefully do so in the not to distant future.
A big thank you to all who told me to go after this model guitar; the sound and playability are just incredible.

Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | Ditto Stephen...And Tom, I am really looking forward to getting mine here...I run my A/E's through a new Carvin XP880 head and two LM15's on Tripod stands...I used the Peavey Pa's (XR600's B and C) for nearly 20 years...I never had them fail me and got great sound...I sold my old setup the my last church and got the new Carvin set...I cannot say enough about the great sound I am getting out of it now...it handled all the guitars and all of the vocals at the Southern Jam in June and sounded great! For just under a grand, its a great investment! |
