Hi everyone. I am considering buy a used Ovation 1992 Legend 1767 AS. I don't know much about it. It is supposed to be in very good condition.

Is this guitar US made?

Thanks.

That's a deep bowl cutaway. Built in USA, and should be a very good sounding guitar.

Thank you. I am looking at another model also a 1627-4 GLEN CAMPBELL. It's from 1976. Good reputation? Thank you.

Both are nice guitars in their own right.. and both are USA-made.. but at this point in time their overall condition as used equipment is a critical key to which is the better guitar.

The 1627 is an Artist depth bowl, which is shallower than the mid-depth, and that is not as deep as the deep bowl. The Artist bowl will not be as bold or deep sounding as a deep bowl. It does have the A bracing, which imho is the best sounding wood top bracing.

Plugged in it will be excellent. If you will mostly play unplugged, I would expect it not to be as good as the 1767. If it will be plugged in all the time, the Artist bowl will be, perhaps, easier to hold onto.

Thanks for the good info. I guess the choice I need to make is to buy a 45 year old Ovation made in the USA or something newer. The prices on the two older models seem reasonable to me but I wont be able to play them to see how they sound.
