I have a cc059 ovation super shallow nylon for a number of years.

When opening the case it has and has had a horrible smell from day one.
The case is one of the cheaper hard shell versions.

I will play for a while, start coughing, put it away and go to another insturment.

Is this just me or a known problem?
and if it is not me....
Is there a known solution.... I mean after 10+ years it should be gone.

update

Who knew that an internet search would have come up with so many smelly case solutions.....
As we had a few sunny +/- 70 degree days I tried the "leave it open in the sun solution" first.

Day 1 smell odor lessened but still present
Day 2 better
Day 3 acceptable until.....

Imagine my surprise, after bringing in the case and re opening, the case the lid flopped down flat.......

The sun apparently melted the glue that held the nylon retaining straps in place.
Both of the straps pulled right out of the lid.

Guess I should have tried the Ozium Spray.

I will move this thread to the BFLG when/if an attempt to fix is made

Do Not use "febreeze"
It leaves it's own smell that you will be trying to get rid-of.

No, I'm not Greek.. and no, I don't have a daughter I'm marrying off.. but..
Windex.
Spray until damp. Rub it in and let it sit a few minutes. Wipe with clean towel. Set it out and let it dry completely. Then repeat once again.
You can also add a few ounces of 70% isopropyl alcohol and/or acetone to the bottle of Windex for added benefit.
