It's NOT a happy one so far for yours truly at least, because I cut my left hand ring finger while trying to prepare breakfast earlier today, so I won't be playing my Ovation guitar for at least a week? My PSW put a big bandage on the thing, that looks like it could be from a Looney Tunes show, but it stopped me from bleeding all over my kitchen! (Doncha just hate it when stuff like this happens?) So, I'm going into guitar withdrawl, temporarily, and now I have to break the bad news to my friend/mentor Bruce. Please be careful in your kitchen, and STAY SAFE! Mike S. The sharp object was hiding in plain sight on the broken, metal-covered corner of my kitchen drawer, and no knives were involved, actually. I do try to keep sharp objects at bay, but that one was sneaky, and I was in a hurry, AND clumsy. I was born with spastic paraplegia, so clumsy, AND spastic is not good. Running with scissors was never an option, either. I love playing slide guitar, but alas, and a lack of said slide prevents this, and so, no, I am NOT going the old-fashioned blues guy route of using a knife? for a slide. Who in the world thought of that? I'm stupid, but I'm not dumb. The cut is on my slide finger, but I could still use my pinky. I prefer stainless steel for slide, but did try copper and glass at one point, as well, when I was working in a music store back in the day. They each have a unique sound quality. I'll have to re-visit this. The cut is healing nicely, BTW, but it will take more time than I thought. (Yelling at the thing to,"Hurry up and heal, NOW!", doesn't seem to be working?) More to follow. My cut finger is healing VERY slowly, and could be in playing shape by then? " We're not sure." I'll keep everyone posted, and probably put some new comments in the Praise and Worship Players forum afterward. STAY SAFE! Mike S. Ottawa, ON., CANADA | ||
