Location: Phoenix AZ | Not mine, but here is an original Glen Campbell Deluxe Balladeer shiny bowl on ebay for a good price.
These are among the rarest of the original shiny bowl models and has all the goodies ... shiny bowl, oversized signature TRC, inlaid "Deluxe" on peghead, 5-point rosewood bridge, dot/diamond markers, bound neck, gold hardware, etc. This model is the Real Deal of shiny bowls.
Like I said, this auction is not mine and the guitar might need a little attention but if for nothing other than historical purposes, this could be a real find by someone. Definitely the only one I've ever seen in the Blue finish.

Location: Pacific Northwest Inland Empire | Yer killin' us here, Dave! That critter would, indeed, take some work. Probably worth it, though. I think the top has to be redone, frankly. The rest of it looks pretty good. Just hope the neck is fairly straight. Description in the auction is skimpy. You do have a keen eye. Well, we shall see what develops in the next 5 days. What was the bracing pattern on these models? I know when The Mothership retopped my Glen Campbell, they used A-bracing. |

Location: When?? | It's essentially the 1968 Deluxe Balladeer I am getting from you, but with the Glen Campbell model's goodies and bling, right? I don't see this one's year listed on the Ebay auction, but they were produced only in'68-'69. I shutter to look at the blue paint and how it was slop-slathered onto such a nice guitar. If this one can be snagged up cheap and sent over to Dan for a rebuild it would definitely be a great thing to have. After telling you (Dave) that I was closing the Glen Campbell range gap by now owning an 1127 and the 1627 final-run reissue, I completely overlooked this model's existence. Makes me want to buy it and sock it away until I can afford to have it rebuilt. Then I actually would have the real-deal Glen Campbell bookends. But for now I am guitar poor (no, really, I am!).
Seesquare--- what is the year model you sent to New Hartford for a re-top? Did they perhaps change the bracing from X to A when they installed the new top?

Location: Phoenix AZ | The GC oversized TRC alone is worth well over $50. I doubt you could find one of these without taking it from an existing guitar. The standard size and the storm size GC covers are pretty easy to come by, but the oversized one was only used on this specific model and they made how many ... 50, 100, maybe ???

It will be very interesting to determine just how much blood, sweat & toil needs to be applied on this relic. I will start a thread in the BFLG after arrival & inspection. Working title will likely be "Pandora II", as the original Pandora was a 1617 that got a stripping & facelift in 2007. |

It's the old British or German sports car that Peter Egan would bring home in boxes piled on the frame and carried in a trailer, then take 2-3 years to make perfect. I miss reading those stories.......

Location: When?? | I pondered buying it to create an early-model parts pile, but with shipping and all it was not worth it just to have stuff laying around. Now I am glad to see it ended up in capable and crafty hands! Looking forward to Pandora II. This one's gonna be great. |

And second, I will try to salvage the present top, if it is feasible. That would certainly be the path of least resistance! I can anticipate a complete binding redo is in order. Location: Lake Forest, CA | I did think about bidding on this guitar, but reasoned that since I've already got the 1967 Balladeer I rebuilt for Jay, I don't need another one, even if it is a GC Deluxe Balladeer.
I do have a few projects I'll do in the future, but for the time being they're safely in storage until I can get started. |

Anyrate, I will now start the project & process over at the BFLG venue. I have been told often, "It's a process, not a destination." Probably correct. |
