Hi Guys, I used to own one of these but had to sell at the time to pay school fees but I'd like to own one again. I had great memories with my sons and this guitar.

Is there anyone with one they'd like to sell?

Thank you.

Would you be interested in my original 1974 1111 that I re-topped with torrefied Sitka spruce?

If so, we can take this conversation to PM.

Never mind. I didn't realize the K1111 was a re-issue of the original shiny bowl.

While Dan's 1111-4 doesn't have the 5 pt bridge, shiny bowl, or original rosette, it's probably a better guitar than the K1111 RI. The torrified top and braces are just wonderful. Dan, does it have the same X bracing as the reissue? Like Micheal Winters' retopped DB, this is a guitar I could be very interested in if I were buying guitars.....

Hi richardd. Hope you don't mind my chiming in; but I gotta agree with moody, p.i. here. The basic construction of the K1111 RI and 1111-4 are the same. I suppose if you want the complete vintage mojo with the gloss finished back and unique bridge then the K1111 is the only choice, but finding one in good condition might be a whole different ballgame. IMHO Dan's torrefied 1111-4 is sure to equal, if not surpass a used factory K1111.

I agree with Moody and Arumako on all points. If you really, really desire to own that one, particular reissue, then there is no other option but to seek one out and spin the wheel on quality.
However.. Dan's 1111-4 is SUCH a nice guitar (essentially new), and rendered by SUCH a competent Ovation luthier (none other like him), and is an early 1974 vintage which dates closer to the genesis of the original 1111.. and so on.. that you will be (and most likely will forever be) very hard pressed to find a finer 1111 worldwide than this one.

For the most part, the bracing is very similar to the original, and I assume the reissue.

Here's what the original bracing looks like.

And, here's the 1111-4 bracing. The only real difference is the addition of the three tone bars and the omission of the fiberglass strip between the lower legs of the X-brace. They also omitted the 1/16" plywood X-brace reinforcement.

Richard, I'd be happy to sell you mine but I can't ship overseas. Do you have a person in the US that I could ship it to for you?
