Joined: June 2020 Posts: 110 | I have just googled "spoon headstock" and found out what it is. I didn't notice that small detail, once again: thanks! | ||

When I first saw the guitar logo in my GC songbook at at 11, I thought it said,...? would you believe...O'Harion? Which was WRONG, because, as it turned out, I needed new glasses and, also shows you how much I knew at the time. It was quite the revalation for me when I got the new glasses, and discovered a lute/guitar thingy with a big hole in the middle..O? Oh? OH! OVATION!! The rest, as they say, is history. You can buy Ovation "spoon" water-slide decals online today (headstock logos), but in the olden 80's days you could order them at music stores along with other nifty O merch (anybody else remember the "Roundback" t-shirts?).. and for a few years I drove around in a Toyota Supra that had a decal on the back below the little spoiler wing. The car was white and it showed up well. I waited and waited for someone to comment on it in traffic.. but no one ever did.. lol. PS: They still look great on coffee cups and stuff. (Where my muscles went, "We're not sure?!" The music store where I worked/taught in the '80's was, in fact, an OVATION dealer, and we ordered one the first 1983 Collector's Series coming into CANADA at the time. Some other guy got that guitar, because he was doing weekend gigs with the store manager back then. It's not what you know, it's who you know. I don't recall seeing any of the brands decals other than the large Ovation dealer sign in the store window. The underwhelming lack of response to your Toyota Supra's OVATION decal is definitely more living proof that Alpep was absolutely right when he said, "Ovation guitars don't get the respect they deserve."
