Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | Aside from the obvious difference in binding material, what is the difference between the 1534 and the 1719? |

Location: Muenster/Germany | Aren´t you mixing up some numbers? 1719 is a center hole custom legend, but I have never heard of a 1534...maybe I have to learn a bit more about Ovations? |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Different top. 1537 has a thin wooden reinforcement under part of the soundboard. Do a search and you'll find more detailed posts about it.
Electronics would also be different. 1537 has stereo 2-knob Adamas type. 17x8 would have different electronics depending on the year.
Also depending on the year, 17X8 might have satin neck finish, where as 1537 is gloss finish. Tuners could also be different. |

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | I found a old Ovation guitar brochure describing the 1718, and it said the same thing about the top being reinforced in the upper bout with an additional thin layer of birch. What I did notice also is that the 1718 top was made with grade AA.(1537s used AAA. I know when they stopped doing the 1537s the quality dropped a little, and they stopped using the walnut binding on the edge due to the cost.

Location: SoCal | Those who have played a 1537 and a 1718 have generally agreed that the 1537 has a bit more of that ever elusive "it" that makes a guitar a bit magical. Just sayin'....... |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Another difference you'll notice is that the 1537 is far heavier than the 17x8. Not sure the reason for this, but maybe this is partially why the 1537 sounds so good ???
The odd thing for me (I've owner 5 different 1537's but moved them all to new owners) the 1537 always sounds GREAT when others play it to me. But acoustically from the players position I never thought it sounded all that special when I played it. Yeah, yeah, I know what you're thinking and you're probably not entirely wrong. But it just always seemed to sound quite a bit better face on than from the players position. Just my opinion. |

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | I know that keeping new strings on them help bring out the best in them also. Of all the Ovation guitars I’ve ever owned, I have the most fondness for the 1537. That may also be because that was my first model. I think I got spoiled early on. |
