My 6756LX 12 string has started to have a noticeable buzz on high strings at frets 2 and 3 which is getting annoying for D chords etc. I assume that this calls for a relief adjustment via trussrod. I haven't done this for decades and never with an LX, so am looking for advice. I assume that this is needs removal of the cover on the headstock? Do I need to slacken the strings or do adjustment with guitar under tension? Do I turn the key toward the high or low strings to remove buzz on the high strings?

Hi d'ovation!
Yeah, it should be a truss-rod cover removal and a 3/16" allen wrench. If you turn the truss-rod toward the 1st (high e) string, it will loosen the rod and give you more relief (bowing the neck). Turn it to the 6th (low E) string and it will tighten the rod and remove the relief (straighten the neck). Shouldn't take more than a quarter or half turn to see if neck relief is the issue. If it has been sometime since your last tune-up, your frets might need to be dressed a bit too. Hope this helps! Good luck!

I would start by judging how much relief is already there before adjusting. put a capo on at 1st position and depress a string at 13th fret. then judge or measure the gap between string and 5th fret. Check both E and e strings this way. There should be a gap and it should be (my preference) 0.2-0.4 mm depending on string gauge playing style etc etc. Also sight down along the neck to see if it warps or twists and, as Arumako proposes, look for worn/dented/high/loose frets in the cowboy zone. Then decide what to do.
