I've been modifying my DIY 6-string non-pedal guitar with a wider fretboard - maple with inlaid mahogany frets.

I now have room for more strings and/or wider string spacing, Dimensions are below, and I think I have access to a set of nut files. What would you do?
Existing nut: width 45mm
Existing bridge: width 50mm
Old board was tapered to match the nut and bridge
New board 60mm wide at the nut, 90mm 24th fret
Scale length 577.85mm (23.75") |

Location: Cork, Ireland | There are a few repairs to the fretboard(e.g. an extra dot marker at fret 6) so I may have another go at it. Board is actually in two pieces. the slot for fret 12 got messed up so it became a joint instead. I may replace the scratch plate (beech) with another piece of maple, possibly make it continuous with the fretboard, but removable for pickup maintenance |
