A few threads down I noted a question - and affirmative answer - that Ovation is once again making guitars in the US under new German ownership. More details please, or a referral to a source that might have them! Is the building taking place in New Hartford again? Somewhere else? And the big Q: Is the mothership possibly available to restore/repair ailing Os?

Wow. 52 views and no responses. Guess I'll take that as a "no" for the time being. I could find pretty much nothing online about Ovation newer than the Drum ownership. Still have hopes. I've been an O fan since my first one - a 1111-4 bought in Glendale, CA for $200 in 1971. Still have it 50 years later, and not a single finish crack yet!

I personally don't know what if anything they're up to. I assume nothing, so if anything pops up in the future I'll just consider it a bonus.

The Roberto-Venn Luthiery School is right here in Phoenix so there are quite a few really top notch repair guys locally. One in particular I have used for several jobs on wooden guitars but never had to resort to them for roundbacks ... until YESTERDAY when this little issue arose:

I'll let you all know how it works out

As far as I know............they are still making Adamas at the new little factory down the street. 2 maybe 3 people working there. GEWA is the new owner. That’s all I know

And that looks like a union job above if you ask me

GEWA purchase was announced in January and really, no word on what they intend to do. A little surprising.......

The guy dangling his legs in the sound hole is a city worker.

Ha ha ha - great picture! Reminds me of 'Fixer Upper' when Chip is joking around for the camera you can see, like 28 guys in the background doing the actual work. I try to point this out when my wife says, "Why can't you be more like Chip!" It doesn't work.

My info was "new" last spring. Now, I don't know.
The Little Shop O' Repairs under DW did an awesome job refurbing an old Balladeer shiny bowl.
With GEWA... got my fingers crossed.
Have several things I want to get into the pipeline.

Actually...  you're likely not far off.  Considering travel restrictions, and meeting restrictions, I'm not surprised.  There is appearently something happening with a distribution center in Maryland.  We shall see.

What a novel idea Elgin! That must be fun to play and hear all that tone up close.

BVince: Not my idea - but a couple customs are out there for Melissa Etheridge and Kaki King....so I thought I would ask and Darren agreed to build another one. Fit and finish are each great, sounds superb, and It'll part your hair when strumming it....I like it, it is amazing how much sound comes out the front.....and out the blow holes....

I don’t think I’d even need to turn myself on in my in-ear monitors through the sound system! That idea might even make it capable to install a good mic system in that side hole.

Hey Marky Mark, quick question. You've talked about the sound of your special order parting your hair when you play it. I've always believed that Ovations sound better to the people 6 feet in front of the guitar than they do for the player. Since the sound is going "up", what's it sound like to the person 6 feet in front of the guitar? It would be interesting to compare it from both places with your slothead.......

Paul: I haven't played it for a crowd yet....there is always an aspect of any good acoustic instrument to be a little separated from it....not just guitars.....flutes, pianos, violins......Someday soon I will just set up a couple mics in the studio so you (and me for that matter) can hear a comparison.....good question Paul.....I bet is sounds better if Matt Smith is playing it!
