I recently acquired a 1111 Balladeer. It is my first Ovation and I've been wanting one for a very long time.
To my surprise this one doesn't slide off my leg when playing. I absolutely love this instrument and would like to firmly date it.

My problem is that there is an 8,011 gap in serial numbers that mine happens to fall into.
1979 ends in 203000 ( which seems odd to end in a round number like that)
1980 starts in 211011.
My serial number is 207498

Should I assume that maybe some 8k in guitars are unaccounted for?

Anywho , anyhelp would be greatly appreciated.

Well, You can be sure that your guitar was made between 1979 and 1980.
